A pub is several businesses under one roof: the public bar, the bistro, the gaming room, the bottle shop and the function room. Kaslu Work rosters each one as its own section, only counts clock-ins made on site, and keeps working when there’s no signal in the cellar.

Roster the pub by room, not by name.
Most rostering apps give you a list of people and a list of shifts. A pub manager thinks in rooms: who’s on the public bar, who’s covering gaming until close, whether the bistro has a second chef for Sunday lunch. Kaslu Work lays the roster out that way.
- Sections you name. Bar, bistro, kitchen, gaming, bottle shop, functions. Each is a row on the roster, so a gap in cover shows up before you publish, not at 7pm on Friday.
- Trading hours for each day. A pub that trades until 1am on Saturday and shuts at 10pm on Sunday gets both, and cover is checked against the hours you’re actually open.
- Copy last week. Most weeks look like the one before. Copy it, fix what changed, and publish to every phone at once.
- Availability that warns you. Staff mark the days they can work, and the roster warns you before you book someone who said they can’t.
Clock-ins that only count on site.
Pubs give a clock-in more ways to go wrong than most venues do. The building is big, people start in the cellar or out the back, and there’s a car park where someone could tap Clock in before they walk through the door.
- A boundary you draw. Draw it on the map around the building, the beer garden and the staff entrance. A clock-in from outside it is held for a manager to review instead of being paid by default.
- Works in the cellar. Clock-ins made with no signal are saved on the phone with the time they happened, and sent when the phone reconnects.
- Location only at the tap. Kaslu Work reads a phone’s location when someone clocks in, clocks out or takes a break, and at no other time. It doesn’t follow staff around the pub or home.
- A record of every change. Worked hours sit next to rostered hours, and any change a manager makes is recorded along with who made it.
Shift swaps without the ring-around.
Someone can’t make Saturday night. In most pubs that means the duty manager texting down the staff list until somebody says yes.
- Staff swap between themselves. They arrange the swap in the app and a manager approves it. You decide which managers can.
- Open shifts. Post a shift nobody’s on and let staff pick it up from their phone.
- Posted to the staff group chat. New rosters, changes and open shifts sent straight to the pub’s WhatsApp group, with SMS for anyone who isn’t on WhatsApp. Coming
More than one hotel in the group?
Each pub keeps its own settings: its own boundary, sections, trading hours, rounding and approval rules. Head office sees every venue from one dashboard, so you can check who’s on tonight at all of them without calling around.
Questions
Will the geofence work for a big hotel with a beer garden?
Yes. You draw the boundary yourself, so it can take in the beer garden, the staff entrance and the loading dock. A clock-in from just outside with a weak signal is flagged for a manager, not refused, so honest staff are never locked out of their shift.
Can I roster the gaming room separately from the bar?
Yes. Gaming is a section like any other, with its own row on the roster, so you can see at a glance whether it’s covered through to close.
Does Kaslu Work calculate award rates or run payroll?
No. Kaslu Work records the hours your staff actually work and gets them approved. Your payroll software works out the pay. Approved timesheets export to CSV today, and sending them straight to Xero, MYOB and Employment Hero / KeyPay is on the way.
Do staff need to download an app?
Yes, a free app for iPhone and Android. Staff sign in with their email address and a six-digit code, so there’s no password to forget. Managers use any browser.
