A rostering app for restaurants, floor and kitchen.
A restaurant rosters two teams to one service. Kaslu Work lays the roster out by section, so you can see whether Saturday dinner is covered on the floor, behind the bar and in the kitchen before it goes out, and staff clock in from their own phone once they’re on site.
Early access is opening to Australian hospitality groups a few at a time.
See every service covered, section by section.
The question a restaurant manager asks of a roster is simple: is every part of service covered? Kaslu Work puts the answer on one screen.
- Floor, bar and kitchen. Name the sections the way your restaurant runs. Each is a row on the roster, so an empty kitchen shift on Friday stands out.
- Rostered against your opening hours. Trading hours are set for each day, so a restaurant that’s closed Mondays and runs late on Saturdays is rostered against the hours it actually trades.
- Drag, drop, publish. Move a shift from the floor to the bar or from Friday to Saturday, fill an empty one from the list of who’s free, and publish to every phone at once.
- Availability for casuals. Staff mark the days they can work, and the roster warns you before you book someone who can’t.
Hours you can check before the pay run.
Wages move with every service that runs long. The hours on the timesheet should be the hours people were actually there, and you should be able to see why any of them changed.
- Clock-in on site only. Draw a boundary around the restaurant, including the back door the kitchen uses. A clock-in from outside it is held for a manager instead of being paid by default.
- Worked next to rostered. Each timesheet shows the rostered shift beside the clocked hours, so a late close is easy to spot and approve.
- Rounding you choose. Owners set how clock-ins round, such as to the nearest five minutes, once, in the venue’s settings.
- Every change recorded. If a manager edits a clock-in, the original and the change are both kept, with who made it.
- CSV export today. Approved timesheets export to CSV for your payroll. Sending them straight to Xero, MYOB and Employment Hero / KeyPay is on the way.
When someone can’t make service.
A sick call an hour before dinner shouldn’t turn into twenty text messages.
- Swaps staff arrange themselves. Staff find a swap in the app and a manager approves it.
- Open shifts. Post the shift and let whoever’s free pick it up from their phone.
- Posted to the team’s group chat. Rosters, changes and open shifts sent to the restaurant’s WhatsApp group automatically. Coming
Sales next to wages.
Coming soon: sales from Square and H&L shown next to the wage cost of the same shift, so you can see whether Tuesday lunch paid for itself. Tell us which point of sale you use when you join the waitlist; the integrations people ask for are built first.
Questions
Can I roster the kitchen and the floor separately?
Yes. Each is its own section with its own row on the roster, and you choose the names, so a restaurant with a pass, a bar and a private dining room can have all three.
The kitchen comes in through the back. Will clock-ins work?
Yes, as long as the back door is inside the boundary you draw. Draw it around where people actually start work, including the lane or loading area, and leave out places like the car park across the road.
Does Kaslu Work calculate award rates or run payroll?
No. Kaslu Work records the hours your staff actually work and gets them approved. Your payroll software works out the pay. Approved timesheets export to CSV today, and sending them straight to Xero, MYOB and Employment Hero / KeyPay is on the way.
Do staff need to download an app?
Yes, a free app for iPhone and Android. Staff sign in with their email address and a six-digit code, so there’s no password to forget. Managers use any browser.
When can we start using it?
Kaslu Work is in early access and letting venues in a few at a time. Join the waitlist and we’ll email you when your spot opens. Pricing will be published before then, and the waitlist hears first.
